Gift Guide

Updated: Mar 12

I know I am far from the only one clinging to this approaching holiday season like it's our life raft of normalcy. There's something about the tradition of the holiday routine (the decorations, gifting, general merriment) that makes us all feel less vulnerable to the unknown. But if there is one thing that 2020 has taught us, it is that the time to wake up is now and that we must act mindfully on behalf of ourselves, and of our global community.

Here's the deal about over-feeding our festive obsessions: The waste footprint is enormous and the environmental impact disastrous. From cheap decorations, throw-away gifts, wrapping paper to Christmas trees and beyond, we cannot ignore the traumatic impact of our consumption.

I wrote this guide in hopes of inspiring you to source your limited shopping from companies invested in both sustainable practices and ethical fair trade. In my research I have learned about the significant challenges brands face in balancing sustainability and maintaining profitability; These companies confront many hurdles in leading the manufacturing transition to ethical resourcing. Additionally, ensuring a multi-leveled manufacturing process - from seed to thread to factory to your doorstep - to be "100% sustainable" is extremely challenging to determine (even with increasing brand transparency). I encourage you to research my suggestions to feel pride in your purchasing.

The most sustainable gift? A donation to a charity or an act of service to honor that special person in your life this holiday season. These two acts of kindness earn my highest recommendation for gifting. Should you decide to purchase a physical gift, below are my suggestions for your consideration broken into sections of under $30, $50, $80, $150, Luxury, Kids, and Quick Clicks. Don't forget to check out "The Bonus" (aka promo code) for each item for additional savings.
